The Summer Painting Camp program allows the child to explore and build their painting skills. We cover composition, color relationships, color mixing, brush stroke, direction of brush stroke, different brushes including flat and pointed, blending techniques, and adding texture as we build up the painting to finish it.

The children learn to sketch using acrylic paints and slowly we work together as a group to build up the layers. In this class I select a group of images, the kids vote on it, and by the end of the week I would say that we get through two or three paintings depending on the group of kids that sign up. Of course, the younger aged children pick age-appropriate images based on their skills and the older children select more demanding challenges. All-in-all, everyone always goes home feeling proud of what they accomplish in the week and have a blast all the way through!
