The annual program’s figure drawing class is designed to give committed students an opportunity to excel in their observational skills along with their ability to translate what is in front of them onto their easels, being the model. The model that I use is age-appropriate, so the students are able to feel relaxed and comfortable when having to draw or paint her. I like to change up the models so the students learn to deal with different body types. The models are fully clothed to remain age-appropriate, and the model generally knows most of the participants to make the students feel more comfortable. The students and model all converse with each other while drawing which is a lovely environment to develop growth in skills.

The figure drawing class is a class that is very important for those dedicated students who want to pursue the arts, it prepares them for College or University in a safe space, so in short, it’s a college or university preparation class. Over the years the class has had the privilege of seeing and developing incredible talent and all of the students that take this class seriously end up in top colleges and universities in America like The Art Institute of Chicago, DePaul University, Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and Iowa State just to mention a few to start their exciting adventures as the next interior designers, illustrators, architects and fine art teachers, and/or artists of their generation.
